New Report Says State of Louisiana is Sinking

A new scientific study has revealed that the state of Louisiana is sinking.
The Louisiana coast is slowly sliding into the Gulf of Mexico according to a report by scientists studying the region.
The study says the sinking is being caused by underground faults moving under the weight of sediment dumped by the Mississippi River.
The area of slippage is confined to an area that includes the Mississippi delta.
Experts believe the new findings will impact plans officials are developing to build stronger levees that would protect the residents of New Orleans.
The report was based on information collected between 1995 and 2006 by GPS stations that were installed to study the nature of the Mississippi delta.
