(RNS) - The Environmental Protection Agency has provided $17,100 to the City of Shreveport to prevent water pollution. The city will use the additional federal funding to further assess, design, repair and rehabilitate selected sewer lift stations in the Cross Lake watershed. Poorly managed sewer systems can be significant sources of pollution into area lakes, rivers and streams. For the past several years, the city has been working to protect this important watershed using a $192,400 grant from EPA.
