(Shreveport, LA)  HOPE for the Homeless, Northwest Louisiana's Continuum of Care, recently announced $3,202,932 in awards from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to local non-profit providers to address the needs of the homeless in our area for 2010.

These funds are awarded to programs operated by 10 different agencies including Caddo Parish School Board, Centerpoint/211, Community Support Programs, Council on Alcoholism, Holy Cross Episcopal Church, Housing Authority of Bossier City, Philadelphia Center, Providence House, Volunteers of America, and the YWCA.

The latest round of funding was awarded through a competitive grant process that recognized the member agencies' commitment to and success with addressing the needs of homelessness in the area.

This funding has a significant economic impact on our community.
Hope for the Homeless encourages any organization or individual that is interested in issues faced by the growing problem of homelessness to become a member.
A general membership meeting is held the fourth Wednesday of every month at 10 am at St. Mark's Cathedral.
