Keeping Safe While Shopping This Holiday Season

It is easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping but Shreveport Police want you to be safe. Police say one of the most important things you can do is not leave bags visible in your car; that makes your vehicle a target. Sergeant Reed Benner says to make sure to lock your doors, even if you will only be in a store for a short while. And if at all possible, have a shopping partner. "It is much safer than shopping by yourself. Don`t depend on someone to watch your back; both need to be aware of their surroundings but you are less of a target if you are with somebody else." Benner says an easy way to get help is by keeping your cell phone handy that way if you are in a busy mall, parking lot or store all you have to do is dial 911 and start talking, someone will get to you quickly.
