The City of Shreveport is welcoming a new mayor. Cedric Bradford Glover was inaugarated at a ceremony at the Shreveport Convention Center Tuesday morning. It was a historic day for the City of Shreveport.
"Not because I am our city`s first African-American Mayor... It`s an historic day because for the first time in our city all our people spoke," said Glover.
And unity among the people was the theme for Mayor Cedric Glover`s inaugural address. He Encouraged everyone to unite to help take Shreveport to the next level. About 2-thousand people attended the ceremony, among them was Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco.
"I`ve known Cedric for many years now...I just want him to succeed and I know that he`s gonna bring a lot of value to Shreveport," said Blanco.
The incoming city council also wished him the best, supporting Glover`s message of unity through diversity.
"I hope we all can come together and not make this personal. Work together... And I think everyone will find out that Cedric is gonna be a fine mayor and we`re gonna be a great council," said District F Councilman Joe Shyne.
Glover hopes that during his administration, Shreveport will become the next great city of the South.
