Armed with research superintendent Ollie Tyler presented her proposed plan to school board committee. Her proposal calls for the merging of two elementary schools. It also calls for creating three new schools, two of which would be a middle schools and restructuring an existing high school. The focus of the proposed plan is to create more middle schools in the district. A proposal committee member James Carter supports. "This k through 8 thing is really exciting, here you have a kid children that are growing in an environment they are accustom to they stay there remain there until a certain age." Research shows parents are more involved in their childs education during these years. Some committee members say it would also give the district a chance to provide students with more resources. The feed back from the committee was mostly positive. Regardless of his support for the plan member at large Scott Hughes says it will still be tricky to implement the final plan once specifics are considered. "It`s one thing to talk about concept it`s another thing to talk about implementation." For now superintendent Ollie Tyler is delighted with the outcome of this first meeting. Tyler plans to have another meeting with the committee sometime in July. The final plan should be completed in November.
