Police Chief Delays Retirement After Job Cuts Proposed

Updated: October 18, 2009
Bossier City Police Chief Mike Halphen says he is postponing his planned retirement in response to the proposal announced to eliminate fourty allocated positions within the police department due to a projected shortfall in the city’s budget. “In light of the recent developments concerning the city budget, I will delay my planned retirement until further notice”, said Chief Halphen. “My objective now is to stay on the job and see this situation through. The Bossier City Police Department has made tremendous progress over the years in making Bossier City the safest city in Louisiana and I am determined to keep it that way.” Chief Halphen announced last month that he was planning to retire after serving 28 years with the Bossier City Police Department. His last day on the job was scheduled for February 19, 2010.
