Caddo Parish School Performance Scores Improve

The 2009 School Performance Score released by the Louisiana State Department of Education states 54 of Caddo Parish's 67 schools experienced academic growth as compared to 35 schools last year. In addition, 20 schools met or exceeded score goals. Only 13 schools achieved that goal last year.
"For the students they show they can be number one," said Dottie Bell, Caddo Parish School Board Member. "[It] shows the teachers that they are number one."
Schools deemed academically unacceptable also experienced academic growth. Barret, Caddo Heights, Central, Midway, and Oak Park Elementary Schools moved from AU to one star status.
"It certainly exemplifies a very positive effort and the direction of instruction being very important in our school district," said Antionette Turner, Caddo Parish School Board Chief Academic Officer.
Even with many accomplishments the parish says there is more work to be done.
