Sunday afternoon, they were formally awarded for their service in front of their loved ones, with certificates, medals and a collectors American flag.
Most of those deployed say they missed the families they left behind.
"I did miss the family, the kids, it is hard, it really hurts. Sometimes you just wake up crying but what can you do," said 1st Sergeant, Solomon Lopez, of Linden, Tx.
The soldiers have been home for a few months.
Some of them are headed now to the Mexican- American border to help patrol.
