(Baton Rouge) -- Officials with the Louisiana Department of Revenue say the state Tax Amnesty Program, which began September 1st, has netted $15-million in collections of overdue taxes thus far.
Under the program, which runs through October 3st, those who owe the state back taxes can settle their accounts with all penalties and half the interest waived.
The state hopes to raise $150-million from the program.
The Department of Revenue says about $473-million in state taxes is owed by individuals and businesses.
