First Time Homebuyer Tax Credit Deadline

November 30th is the deadline to receive an $8,000 dollar tax credit when you buy a home. The measure is expected to add 400,000 buyers to the housing market this year.
The tax credit is part of the stimulus legislation passed in early 2009. You do have to meet certain qualifications to be considered eligible. Also, if you move ourt or sell the home within that 36 months you will have to pay the money back. In order to make the November deadline real estate experts recommend that you have a house under contract by early October.
The Queensborough Neighborhood Association and the Louisiana Housing Finance Agency will host several meetings over the next few weeks for first-time homebuyers hoping to make a purchase.
