Bossier City Police Chief to Retire

Bossier City Police Chief Mike Halphen announced Wednesday morning, Hes retiring. His last day to lead Bossier Citys Police force will be February 19th, 2010. Chief Halphen joined the department in 1982 and was appointed as the Interim Chief in June of 2001. He is the second longest serving Police Chief in the departments history. He says his retirement is bitter sweet but he wanted to end his career on a high note. "There is a lot on my plate that I want to look at, so, I have got time to think and you havent seen the last of me." Chief Halphen mentioned running for political office and his interest in consulting. He didnt give any specifics. The process for selecting a new chief will start soon. The mayor will make the appointment. To be considered for chief, candidates must have 10 years experience in law enforcement. And pass the Civil Service exam.
