Incident at Homer Gas Station Leads to Federal Investigation

"He asked me "mam, did you vote for President Obama?" and I replied "yes" and he told me, he said "well, you know were gonna kill that m-f" and I said "well, it may be you first," she said.

Jenkins says the mans tirade didnt end there. She says he broke out several windows, yelled racial slurs, and threatened to pull out an AK-47.

"Scared. I didnt know what was going on. Scared. I was afraid," friend TeKisha Shine said.

Shine was with Jenkins the night of the a incident. She believes her Obama t-shirt may have sparked the confrontation.

"I feel that I should have the freedom and the rights to wear what I wanna wear," she said.

"Theres a freedom of speech, but theres also limits that you have to do," Jenkins said.

Police say the man involved was minden native Steven Fornea. He was arrested and charged a few days later for disturbing the peace and criminal damage to property.

Those who know Fornea say he goes to a local bar often. Although they did not want to go on camera, they did say the arrest surprised them and he always seemed to be an all around nice guy.

We tried speaking with Homer Police about Fornea, but the department refused to release any information.

"This is something that could racially upset the balance of things in this town. If they dont show a firm hand in dealing with this issue, then we definately feel like someone could be possibly injured or possibly killed here," Claiborne Parish NAACP spokesman Terry Willis said.

The alleged threat against the president has sparked an investigation by the Secret Service. Its Homers second federal case in just months.
