ArkLaTex schools are under fire. At the center of the controversy is President Obama.
He is giving a speech to students Tuesday and some parents say they do not want their kids to hear it. Prompting schools like Caddo Parish to send home permission slips. It explains during Tuesdays speech the president is expected to challenge students to work hard, set educational goals and take responsibility for their learning.
A copy of the speech is posted on our website for parents and teachers to screen ahead of time.
Here is how ArkLaTex schools plan to handle the speech:
Bossier Parish: Recording the speech, parents can contact schools if they want their child to opt out
Caddo Parish: Airing live, sending permission slips
Claiborne Parish: Airing live if classrooms will not be disrupted
DeSoto Parish: Recording, will air later during classes
Marshall, TX: Recording, sending letter to parents
