"Since the early 40's my family has been in demolition and we reclaim all the old timber out the jobs and make it into flooring, furniture, frames," said Tommy Chandler.
This family business was green long before going green was thing to do.
"We've been green for a long time. We didn't even know we were green until somebody told us cause we've always been reclaiming wood out of this," added Chandler.
Everything you see at T.H. Chandler used to be something else.
"This wood came out of an old, old house behind First Methodist Church in downtown Shreveport," explained Chandler, pointing to a large dining table.
In the process of giving reclaimed lumber new, life nothing goes to waste.
"Even the sawdust. We make saw dust into mulch," added Chandler.
If you're looking for a piece of history, all the wood at T.H. Chandler is from local demolitions.
"I can give you the history of everything; where it came from, and an architect's history of what it came from,” said Chandler.
T.H. Chandler offers unique reclaimed wood items inside its Swan Lake Road store. It also offers custom work using reclaimed lumber.
