Bossier City police arrested a man early Friday morning for attempting to steal engine parts from two parked cars at an apartment complex that he apparently needed so that he could make repairs to his own vehicle. Police were called to the Port Au Prince Apartments around 5:10 a.m. regarding a man who was seen breaking a window of a Honda Accord, opening the hood and tampering with the engine. The suspect reportedly then got into his car, a Black Honda Accord, and drove away. Shortly after arriving on the scene officers discovered a second Honda Accord that was broken into in the same fashion.
Officers located a man fitting the description of the suspect in the parking lot on the north side of the complex while he was working on a black Honda Accord. Upon further investigation officers arrested the man, identified as James R. Jacobe III, 28, and charged him with 2 counts of attempted simple burglary. An investigation determined Jacobe broke into the cars in an attempt to steal Honda Accord parts so that he could use them to make repairs to this own Honda Accord. No auto parts were taken in the break ins. It`s not clear if Jacobe didn`t find what he was looking for or if he ws unable to remove the parts.
