Shreveport police are still working the scene of a major accident on Interstate 20 just before lunch Tuesday near the Industrial Loop that involved four vehicles and injured four people. The accident occured after a tanker truck ran into the back of a box-type trailer that had slowed down for construction along the interstate. The driver of a motor home saw the accident and swerved to avoid it, losing control and leaving the roadway. The motor home was hauling a Ford pickup truck, which came loose from the motor home and struck the tanker truck, igniting a fire. The driver of the tanker truck, Sheldon Edwards, 27, of Minden was taken to LSU Hospital and is currently in the emergency room being evaluated. Meanwhile, the driver of the 2004 Allero Motor Home, Harold Robertson, 64, of Malakoff, Texas, and his passenger/wife, Sue, were taken to Willis-Knighton North. The driver of the box trailer, Raymond Douglas, 44, of Hidgen, Arkansas also was taken to WK-North. The tanker truck driver, Sheldon Edwards, was ticketed for careless operation. The investigation continues.
