Shreveport Police Will Set Up Checkpoint This Weekend

Shreveport Police will hit the streets Friday night looking for impaired drivers and other violations.
The safety checkpoint, which will take place in central Shreveport, will start Friday evening and wrap up early Saturday morning.
According to the police department, safety checkpoints are an important component of the department’s efforts to address a serious traffic issue.
Chief of Police Henry Whitehorn says, “Those violators who chose to operate a motor vehicle while impaired put each and every one of us at risk. These safety checkpoints are a tool that we are using to take these offenders off of the streets of our communities and increase awareness that driving while impaired will not be tolerated.”
