A Shreveport man is in custody in connection with the stabbing and robbery of a cab driver at Jackson and Mertis streets on July 22.
Vandrick Williams, 28, is charged with attempted first-degree murder. He is accused of stabbing the female driver after she picked him up at a local casino. He demanded money from her, and when she didn`t give him enough, he demanded more. The cab driver then pulled out a knife and cut him on the cheek. He was able to get the knife from her and stabbed her in the shoulder and neck. He then fled the scene from the vehicle. The driver suffered non life-threatening wounds.
Williams was arrested by the Shreveport City Marshal`s Office on unrelated charges today. Detective Chris Yarborough was notified of his arrest and added the felony attempted murder charge.
