Texas legislators today headed back to work at the Capitol. Governor Rick Perry called a special session, which will revolve around three pieces of legislation not passed during the regular session.

One measure would extened operation of five critical agencies that were reviewed during the regular session. Those include the Texas Department of Transportation, Texas Department of Insurance, Texas Racing Commission, Office of Public Insurance Counsel and Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation. They could be shut down if lawmakers don't take action.

Legislators will also consider allowing TXDOT to issue bonds already approved by voters for highway improvement and other tansportation projects. They will also look at extending the transportation agency's ability to use comprehensive development agreements to design, finance, build and maintain infrastructure.
