Some area law enforcement agents are trying their skills at protecting schools from violence.
It`s part of a basic S.W.A.T. Course, that couldn`t have been taught at a better time.
Monday, officers attending the North Louisiana Criminal Justice Academy executed a mock sweep of Plain Dealing Christian Academy.
Their mission was to find the gunman putting hundreds of lives in jeopardy by using techniques being learned in the course.
"It is not only timely, it is a little past time with all the school violence, drugs in schools and situations you might have in schools," said Dallas County Deputy, Brian Rayburn.
The S.W.A.T. course will continue throughout the week.
Deputies will also learn less than lethal tactics, fire arms training and how to use a distraction device.
