Friday Night Football is a staple to Louisiana high schools but for one football team in Webster Parish, this is the last season they`ll take the field.
Officials and coaches at Cotton Valley have struggled for years with having enough players to make a sufficient team. Currently, there are 16 players and 13 of those will take the field against Logansport, Friday night. Principal, Ronnie Rhymes, says the decision was a hard one to make.
"I love football, I mean I played here in the 1960`s, it is not the fact that I am trying to cut football, it is just the numbers cutting itself."
A petition was presented to the Webster Parish School Board earlier this week, asking to salvage the program. Rhymes has already turned in the paper work making the decision to cut the program final.
