Six Boy Scouts from Texarkana troops are back at camp today, after a recovery from being struck by lightning. "They took about two hours to actually carry these guys off of Baldy Mountain. There were something like 50 people involved in that, so from that standpoint, we are very fortunate" says Marcal Young, Executive Director for the Caddo Area Council. The boys were hiking Baldy Mountain, which is the highest point, Sunday afternoon at Philmont Scout Ranch near Cimarron, New Mexico when the strike occurred. The crew, which represented Troops 19, 7 and 30 from the Texarkana region was hiking with two other crews. The scouts were taken to a local hospital for observation. All those involved -- Jeremiah Melton and Caleb Pittman from Troop 30 and brothers Reggie and Tony Bennett, Muncie Stapleton, and Taylor McLean from Troop 19 have been released. They returned to camp Monday morning.
