Soggy Summer A Drag For Area Kids

The recent wet weather has touched every part of the Ark-La-Tex region, meaning summer fun for the little ones has been washed down the drain. "Rain, rain go away, come again another day." Running errands with mom is not what Emma and Gabbi wanted to do on this summer day. "I like to play in the mud after its done raining," says 4 year old Emma. Like most children, playing outside is more fun. Kids everywhere want things to dry up. "I want to get out and play with my dogs when its not raining," says 11 year old Tim. "The rain make things grow," 5 year old Georgia explains. They all understand why rain is needed but not why it has to rain everyday. "Im tired of watching Zack and Cody," says Ben, 7. Favorite TV shows are getting old, and playing inside can be hard sometimes. These kids are glow in the dark golfing -- just one way to occupy a rainy ole day. The rainy summer has even forced some kids into being creative. 4 year old Ella decided on a rainy day last week that she needed some practice cutting her hair. "I cut it right here. There is a hole." So her bad hair day just adds to her soggy blues. "My friends told me to. I was bored. Sorry mom." These kids say summer is about fun in the sun, and they are ready to go outside and play. Perhaps Little Gabbi says it best: "Im so tired of the rain. You have to walk with an umbrella."
