Sex Offender Registration Laws Changing

Under the current law there are two levels of sex offenders. First time offenders now register with the state for 10 years. Those charged with aggravated rape register for life. Come January 1st of 2008 that will all change. Sex offenders will be divide into three levels. First level sex offenders will have to register for 15 years. Second level offenders will have to register for 25 years. And those who have committed crimes such as aggravated rape will have to register for life. Law enforcement officers say these new laws will help them keep people safe.
