Groundbreaking For Crossroads In Texarkana

By: Shelli Briery
Updated: July 9, 2007
Texarkana, Arkansas is taking a step forward in economic development. "The road has to be in place where we can get across that 40 acres, on to the next 200 or so. That is the catalyst, the facilitator to make everything happen," says Arkansas side Mayor Horace Shipp. City and state officials broke ground on Crossroads Parkway Monday morning. The parkway will stretch across a new business park along Interstate 30. The funding for the roadway comes from a federal grant. It is expected to take about 5 months to complete. It could soon be a road lined with hotels, businesses and a new sports complex.
