When is it OK to Shoot?

On Saturday, 57 year old Tony Dill was shot and killed by Officer Sarah Dewitt. According to the police report, someone called 911 saying Dill was threatening to harm himself with a gun. When Dewitt arrived she shot the man several times. He later died at the hospital. The fact that he was not threatening to harm anyone but himself, is raising the question of whether the officer should have used deadly force. Instead of something less lethal, like a taser.
