Conservation Is Key In Gilark

By: Import User
Updated: February 5, 2007
Some Webster Parish residents are being asked to conserve water. The water system in the Gilark community has been running low. Earlier this week its tank only had about 2-feet of water in it. To fix that problem, water officials tapped into the City of Minden`s water supply. Officials also lowered the water pressure on the system`s new wells. Donald O`Rear says the water unit is about 40-years old and is built to supply to a hundred homes. It is supplying to 200. "Cut down on watering the yard, the amount they use in the pool, and washing their car; basically, we have asked them to use it for home consumption," said O`Rear. The system should recover but conservation will ensure that it does.
