Two Shreveport police corporals are on leave and one officer has been terminated for two unrelated incidents. Melvin Goodson, who has been on the force since August 2004, was terminated Thursday afternoon for violations of rules and regulations. He was assigned to the patrol division. Because this is a personnel issue, no further information can be released regarding Goodson at this time. Meanwhile, two police corporals were placed on administrative leave with pay on Tuesday. The two are the subjects of a criminal investigation that began in April regarding irregularities in writing traffic citations. The corporals, whose names are not being released, were placed on leave following an investigation by Shreveport Police Detectives. The results of that investigation will be forwarded to the District Attorneys office for review by the end of the week. If the DA determines that criminal charges are warranted, appropriate action will be taken. Because of the pending criminal investigation against the two corporals, no other details can be released at this time.
