Louisiana Plans Speeding Crackdown

A new study shows 80 percent of Louisiana drivers speed; many regularly topping 90 miles an hour! That`s the main reason Louisiana Law enforcement launched a speeding crackdown campaign Wednesday. The 100 day program is the largest-ever statewide highway safety program. Officers hope to keep roads safe through education and enforcement.
Louisiana state police report speed as a factor in more 30 percent of fatal crashes each year. That figure accounts for more than 200 deaths.
According to the Highway Safety Commission, that`s among the highest percentages in the country.
