Texarkana Firefighters Fill Their Boots for Sick Children

Updated: June 11, 2007
MDA2007-06-11-1181605272.jpgBeginning June 9, Texarkana, TX, firefighters will be filling their boots for donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Texarkana, AR firefighters will also begin their efforts in the coming weeks. Department representatives are very excited about starting their "Fill the Boot" campaigns early. Each year, firefighters around the country stand on the streets and in front of some local businesses collecting donations from community members in their boots. In years past, area departments have collected during Labor Day and the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon, but this year in order to "hurricane-proof" the donations they collect for MDA, departments will be going out during the spring in addition to their Labor Day efforts. MDA would like to encourage everyone in the Texarkana area to contribute to the firefighters efforts and thank them for what they're doing to help local children and adults with neuromuscular diseases. If you would like more information about the Fill-the-Boot program or MDA, please call the Ark-La-Tex office at (318) 742-3632.
