Jackquline Mingo is still in shock from the news the father of her newborn baby is gone. "All I know is when I got down here, I see him laying on the ground with a white sheet on him. I can't do nothing but just holler, because I can't believe this would happen,” admitted Jackquline Mingo. Thursday night Dexter Gardner became the latest shooting victim in Ringgold. Friends say the 18-year-old was visiting with a friend on Hall Street when something went wrong. "I knew he had enemies but I just never thought him, just someone else beefing so strong that they just kill him,” said Mingo.

Authorities are well aquainted with problems on this street. In May, they found another man's body just yards from where Dexter, better known as "Little D," was found. "I don't feel this is connected with the previous shooting,” explained Chief Lawson Bradley, Ringgold Police Department. Fredrick Palmer says “Little D” wasn't a troublemaker, but understands violence among teens is escalating. "It could have been avoided. There are other ways to handle things, but it's life, it happens,” commented Palmer, Gardner’s long time friend. Police don't have any strong leads. Mingo just hopes someone will be brave enough to step forward so she can explain to her baby the events of the shooting. "Just tell the truth because I would like to know how it happened and why it happened,” pleaded Mingo. If you have any information about the shooting please call the Ringgold Police Department at (318) 894-4699.
