Beat the Heat at a Local Pool

By: Staff
Updated: June 6, 2007
dNow that summer has officially started and the heat is on, people are looking for ways to stay cool. Fortunately, the swimming pools are opening, just in time.

Wednesday, June 6, is the first day that public pools in Shreveport will be opened.

Also, the YWCA/SPAR Community Center-Indoor Pool, on Pierre Avenue, is offering swimming lessons for children nine months to five years old.

The lessons are in two sets, one from June 4 to June 27. The other is from July 2 to July 25. During both sets of dates, the lessons will be on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and Saturdays at 1:00 p.m. The lesson fee is $40 per session. A parent or guardian must assist each child during the lessons, as well as the instructor.
