breaking news
It was a murder that shocked a quiet Benton neighborhood. Wednesday morning, 23-year-old Tiffany Johnson was found dead in a home in the 100 block of Augusta Avenue. Police say Johnson, who was from California, was a guest of the couple who owned the home. Police say she often entertained acquaintances there while the couple was at work.
Now police believe one of Johnson`s acquaintances is responsible for her murder. 21-year-old James Anthony Coffman, of Shreveport has been arrested in connection to her death. Bossier Parish authorities say the pair met on a chat line and became friends. They believe Johnson invited him over to her Benton home. When Coffman arrived he allegedly robbed her at gunpoint ant shot her in the head.
Then police say James Anthony Coffman went on a crime spree, stealing a truck in Benton and one in Texarkana. Once there, police say he picked up a girlfriend and forced her to travel with him to Dallas. Coffman apparently spent the night at his sister`s house. Then he allegedly carjacked and robbed a woman, before fleeing to Kansas. Once he arrived in Kansas, police say Coffman forced his girlfriend out of the car at a local bus station. That`s when she called police. Authorities in Wichita, Kansas arrested James Anthony Coffman early Friday afternoon. He`s facing charges of aggravated battery and first degree murder. As of late Sunday, Coffman was still being held by Kansas authorities.
