Webster Parish authorities are investigating an officer involved shooting that turned deadly overnight.
It all started on Waterman Street in Minden. 45-year-old, Kenneth Trice, Jr. was visiting residents there. That`s when police say Trice threatened to kill one of the residents, took off down the street to another house and demanded those inside to give him a vehicle. Residents called police for help.
Police began searching for Trice and the stolen vehicle just befor one Saturday morning.
Authorities say Trice lead them out of Minden and into Dixie Inn before ditching the vehicle at an apartment complex. That is when Officer Danny Turner confronted Trice who shot him twice, once in the arm and in the leg.
Chief T.C. Bloxom says Trice then jumped into the patrol car and took off again, leading authorities on a chase that ended just up the road.
Trice lost control of the vehicle, ran into a ditch and wrecked into a group of trees off of highway 80.
By that time several different agencies were on the scene to assist and that`s when the fatal shots were fired.
Bloxom says Trice was shot while inside the car;who fired the fatal shots is still unknown.
Police say Trice had nine previous arrests, including three felonies.
The Webster Parish Sheriff`s Office is investigating the incident.
Minden Police Officers Danny Turner and Craig Bucknor have been placed on administrative leave.
Turner was treated and released from Minden Medical Center for his gunshot wounds.
Now authorities are waiting on an autopsy to explain exactly how Trice was killed.
