Saturdays Coast Guard demonstration is the highlight of the the 2nd annual Water Resource Festival, which runs Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The Coast Guard will bring out some of the boats, helicopters, and K-9 heroes on Saturday to use for a re-enactment of post-Hurricane Katrina rescue operations. Some of the equipment is similar to that used in the 2006 movie "The Guardian", which filmed in Shreveport and starred Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher. The fest aims at educating attendees on water safety issues and topics concerning the Red River. As a result, planners have made 1,500 life jackets available to give away on Saturday.
