Truck Driver Killed In DeSoto Parish

vDeSoto Parish deputies have identified a truck driver killed on Louisiana Highway 5 Sunday afternoon. They say 30 year old Christopher Burroughs of Carthage lost control of his big rig, rolling it off the right side of the roadway. The one vehicle wreck happened near Gloucester. Burroughs was not wearing his seat belt. Deputies believe he was speeding. The Department of Environmental Quality was called out because salt water in the tanker leaked into a nearby ditch.

Locals recount past tornadoes

The recent tornado coverage is bringing up memories of past twisters in our area.  Bossier Parish was hit by multiple tornadoes in 2009.

Just last Thursday, Waskom and Greenwood were hit by an EF-1 tornado.

A Bossier Parish man recalls the tornado which touched down near Swan Lake Road in 1978.  A man who survived a tornado in Benton in 1999 also shared his story.
