Its now coming up on two years since Marie Rieras evacuated her home in New Orleans just before Hurricane Katrina. With Road Home officials at her disposal Wednesday night she is now hopeful she will get the help she needs to plan for the future. “Im of course looking to see like anybody else just what and how much money you can get.” In Maries case, a gutted out five bedroom home, but unlike many at Wednesday’s meeting with Road Home officials Marie is in a wheelchair having lost a leg due to a toe infection that formed during the ride out of New Orleans. An emotional journey to say the least, Marie also lost almost all evidence of her identity. "I have no proof all the things they ask you for when I thought I was coming back in three days." But now there’s hope...Marie and others learned their options and more importantly met face to face with state officials to discuss the future. A future that Marie says needs to start now.
