Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator now knows the whereabouts of more than 300 unregistered sex offenders. For 20 days, deputies roamed the streets looking for sex offenders who failed to register with the parish. Prator says the over all operation was a success. Deputies made 58 arrests and 91 unregistered offenders turned themselves in. Forty-three relocated out of state and seven are deceased. But 28 are still at large.
"These 28, we`ve been trying to find them... Yes we`re still after them. No we`re not with the same number of people, but we`re going to find them and others if they`re around." said Sheriff Steve Prator.
Louisiana law requires sex offenders to register 21 days after they`re released from jail or they`ll be re-arrested. The deadline changes to 10 days beginning August 15th, due to recent changes in the law.
