Updated: March 30, 2007
sShreveport Police Department arrested a Shreveport man after he told women he owned a car dealership to con them out of money and their cars. Bobby Parks, 34, was charged with two counts of felony theft for the incidents that occurred on Feb. 2 and March 7. In the first case, Police said Parks told the victim he owned a car dealership and that he could sell her car for her. He allegedly took her to the dealership and told her to pick out a car she would like to purchase. Police say he later took the woman's car. She never heard from him again. She went to the dealership and learned that Parks did not own it, nor did the dealership know who he was. In the second case, Police said Parks told another woman he owned a car dealership and could get her some rims and tires at a discounted price. She gave him $650 to purchase them. He later called her and said he would pick up her car to take it back to the dealership to install the items. When she said she would have her car brought to him, he disconnected the call and the victim never heard from him again. This suspect has a history of these types of incidents. If anyone has information about other possible cases, contact Detective Angela Pell at 673-6985 or Crime Stoppers at 673-7373.
