Fire at Calumet Update

Shreveport firefighters and ambulances rushed to the scene of an explosion and fire at the Calumet Refinery on Midway in Shreveport Monday evening. Two workers were injured in the blast, one seriously. Jewella and Midway Avenues were blocked off as firefighters poured water on the blaze that was caused by what fire officials called a "release of "natural" products that burned itself off. At last report, the fire was under control and traffic was expected to return to normal.
