Dr. Jana de Benedetti is no stranger to the congregation at B'nai Zion. She's been an active member and teacher at the reform congregation for years. When the Rabbi position became vacant, de Benedetti seemed a natural fit. "The way it happened," said de Benedetti," it just happened." Women have served as Rabbis in reform congregations since the early 1970s, but not in Shreveport. For de Benedetti, this is the fulfillment of a life long dream. "Ever since I was in 4th grade, I wanted to be a rabbi," said de Benedetti. "It seemed natural to me. I loved worship services, I loved inspiring people, and loved finding ways to meet people's spiritual needs. I feel very blessed to be here."

This weekend also marked the 95th anniversary of Hadassah , which is a women's service and educational organization that meets needs in America and in Israel.
