Animal Care On Wheels

Man`s best friend can sometimes be a burden in Caddo Parish, especially in rural and low income areas. Some people living in these areas will never have the opportunity to take their pets to a veterinarian. Doctor Michael Dale at the Caddo Animal Shelter has a solution that should help. It is in the form of mobile animal control clinic; complete with a bathroom in it, generators, lights, an exam/ surgery room, a reception area, and banks of cages on the rear wall. The clinic could be used for vaccinating and adoption. Dale has been working with a donor on funding the project; 50-thousand dollars has been secured. A donation in the transportation department is also in the works. "We have a plan to possibly get a Sportran bus in the next 8 months, whenever the buses are rotated out," said Dale. The Director says the need for care across the parish is great, ow he must prove it to others in the animal community. Doctor Dale hopes to have the Mobile Care Clinic on the streets in the next year.
