Natchitoches Resident Dies, Children Injured After Being Struck By A Truck

A 50 year old Natchitoches man is dead after being struck by a passing motorist. It happened Tuesday just after 8 p.m. Police say Doris Brown was walking with two children, ages 7 and 5, on the shoulder of Rapides Drive when all three were struck by a pick-up truck.

The driver, identified as 58-year-old Sherrill B. Sullivan reportedly continued north without stopping, eventually driving to the Natchitoches Police Department where he was taken into custody. All three pedestrians were transported to the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center. Brown was pronounced dead on arrival. The 5 year old was air lifted to LSU Medical Center in critical condition. The 7 year old was treated and released. Sullivan is now charged with DWI , hit and run, one count of vehicular homicide, and 2 counts of first degree vehicular negligent injury.
