A small patch of grass off Wallace Lake Road was a disturbing scene.
We showed April Mackey, DVM at Towne South Animal Hospital the photograph of what the Caddo Parish Constable saw Thursday night. It was a small skinned female dog that Animal Control believes to have been a year old.
"It has one eye missing. It looks like somebody who has hunting experience. This person has skinned animals before or deer. They knew what they were doing. It wasn't an accident," Dr. mackey said.
It's a dog that was well taken care of and believed to have been a mixed Terrier breed. You can tell by the well groomed fur around the paws -- the only thing left of the dog.
"The muscles look fresh. I'd say about 24 hours," Dr. Mackey said.
Constable Eric Hatfield says this isn't the only disturbing incident in those woods...
"I got a call this morning from a person saying they found a couple of house cats plus a rabbit that had been beheaded about three to four weeks ago. The heads were missing," Hatfield said.
At this point there are no leads but Animal Welfare Inc is offering a $500 reward for anyone who can bring information to the table.
