The City of Shreveport and Caddo Parish plan to work together. Officials say ti will bring more leverage to the table when they sit down with Comcast to work out a new deal.

"We don't necessarily want to find another provider but at the same time, we want our customers to be happy with their service and get what they pay for," Caddo Parish Administrator Dr. Woodrow Wilson said.

Comcast is looking for another long term exclusive contract.
Wilson says at this point no other providers have shown interest.

Switching providers looks highly unlikely.

"Comcast owns the lines and the infrastructure and many of them go through main city thoroughfares," Shreveport City Councilman Sam Jenkins said.

"You can't force someone to sell infrastructure and property. It'll be difficult to get another company to add additional lines next to the existing ones," WIlson said.

Wilson adds at this point the Parish is not in a position to buy the lines.

Comcast brings in just over $177,000 to the Parish. They've been making multi-million dollar improvements, but both the Parish and the City want to be sure Comcast will stay committed.
