Local lawmakers updated us on their work in Baton Rouge.
Several spoke at the legislative forum held by the Women's Republican Club of Shreveport at East Ridge Country Club.
One topic that got some attention was cuts to the LSU System.
But sadly, Representative Thomas Carmody, Jr., says here in north Louisiana we can expect more cuts to education.
"They're going to be more cuts," says Carmody. "We currently have a billion plus dollar deficit in our current fiscal year. It's not the budget we'll be considering passing. This is the current year, and so they'll be some additional cuts that will have to be made by the administration before we finish this session."
At the forum NBC 6 learned there may soon be a group of LSU System supporters traveling to the state capitol to speak against more cuts.
