Barksdale's 307th Bomb Wing is now the first ever nuclear certified reserve unit.

This comes following a nuclear surety inspection that just wrapped this week.

For the last five days Air Force Global Strike Command and the Inspector General's office have been evaluating everything from bomb loaders to pilots within the 307th Reserve Wing.

Colonel Jon Ellis says it has been a long process that first started in 2011.

This certification will strengthen the Air Force's nuclear capability and build a closer bond between his Reserve Unit and active duty airmen on base.
