Teacher held over for trial for sex crimes against student

Judge Joe Bleich today held over Robert Jeremy Alan Pierce, 33, for trial. Pierce, a teacher at Port City Christian Academy, a part of Westview Christian Church, 7188 Greenwood Road in Shreveport, was arrested in February and charged with multiple charges, after he allegedly sexually assaulted a teenage girl at the school.
Authorities say on numerous occasions Pierce called the victim out of class via text message and allegedly committed a sexual battery on her while on school grounds. On another occasion, Pierce was also accused of committing a sexual battery on her while driving her home from school.
After hearing the eviidence in Pierce's preliminary examination today, he was formally charged with molestation of an individual with a mental disability (Louisiana RS 14:81.2), which carries with it a maximum sentence of 99 years in prison at hard labor.
Pierce is being held on $750,000 bond. Assistant Caddo District Attorney Bill Edwards is prosecuting the case.
