Gunman on the loose in southern Arkansas

Hempstead Co. authorities are searching for a suspect involved in a shooting outside of a convenience store in Hope.

On Sunday Devonte Smith, 18, allegedly shot a man near the Shell One Stop in the 1200 block of N. Hervey Street.

Smith is accused of shooting Ryan Harris, 22, in the leg after they got into an argument in the parking lot.

Harris was taken to Wadley Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Smith is facing a charge of Battery in the 1st Degree, a Class B Felony.
